English Language Training
We offer adult newcomers to Canada FREE English lessons.
You can be speaking, reading and writing better English in just a few months.
The ESL program provides language training and orientation to Canadian society to residents of Keremeos and surrounding communities.
How the program works:
- ESLSAP Coordinators welcome new learners throughout the year.
- ESLSAP Coordinators support learners and tutors.
- Program staff will ask you about your learning needs and assess your English language skills.
- ESLSAP Tutors are trained community members who want to help newcomers.
- Tutors and learners arrange meeting times that work best for them.
- Tutoring centres may also offer small group sessions such as ESL Cafes, guest speakers, and fieldtrips.
What you will learn:
- You will have the opportunity to improve your English language skills
- You will learn more about Canada and Canadian society
- You will learn more about your community
- You will get to know members of your new community
Who can attend?
- Permanent Residents including Refugees or Protected Persons (priority)
- Naturalized Citizens and Refugee Claimants
- You must be 19 years of age or older. Bring documentation such as your immigration documents to your first meeting.
- Your local ESLSAP Coordinator will tell you whether you qualify.

Our volunteer tutors receive free training.
Volunteer tutors provide English language support to adult immigrants and refugee newcomers living in BC communities. We welcome people from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences. If you are 19 years or older, please consider helping someone learn English in your community.
